Heavy Metals Test - Nickel kit ("HMTS(Ni)")
How to Test
Contents of HMTS(Ni) kit
- 1 Large test tube
- 1 Color strip on box of the kit
- 1 Vial with a yellow cap - reagent 1
- 1 Vial with a clear cap - reagent 2
- 1 Vial with a red cap - reagent 3
The contents of reagents 1 and 2 contain acids - please avoid contact with skin or eyes
Storage of Heavy Metals Test - Nickel Kit
The Nickel Test kit should be stored in a cool place - 15C to 25C.
Preparation of Test Solutions
i) Remove the 3 vials from the large test tube.
ii) In the empty large test-tube, add 10 ml. of the solution to be tested.
iii) The solution is now ready for testing.
Conducting the test
a) Pour the contents from yellow cap vial (reagent 1) to the solution to be tested in the large test-tube.
b) Close the cap of the large test tube and mix the solutions by shaking slightly
c) Add the contents from the clear cap vial (reagent 2) to the solutions in the large test-tube.
d) Close the cap of the large test tube and mix the solutions by shaking slightly
e) Add the contents from the red cap vial (reagent 3) to the solutions in the large test-tube.
f) Close the cap of the large test tube and mix the solutions by shaking slightly
g) Wait 5 minutes and compare the colour of the mixed solutions to the colour strip provided
Test Interference:
The test results can be affected by the presence of:
- concentrations of ions above 1 ppm from chrome, iron (FEII), manganese
- concentrations of ions above 5 ppm from cobalt, silver, iron (FEIII)and magnesium
Colour strip
The numbers indicate concentration in ppm.
Concentrations of inorganic nickel should be 0.

Warning
Please keep the Nickel Test kit in a safe place out of reach of children.
Avoid contact with any part of the body, especially the eyes and skin
Please ensure that the indicator stick is not touched!
After the test has been completed, the tested solution should be disposed off
safely. The best disposal method is to flush the solution in the toilet.
There should not be any contact of the contents of the Nickel Test kit with food.
Please wash your hands thoroughly after use.
