How to Test
Contents of HMT(Cu) kit
- 1 Colour strip on box of the kit
- 1 Test Instruction Sheet
- 1 Large Test-tube
- 1 pipette
- 1 Indicator Stick
- 1 sheet of pH paper
- 1 vial with clear cap - Reagent 1 (liquid content contains sulphuric acid. Avoid any contact with skin or eyes. Rinse immediately and contact your doctor if contact is made or esepcially if an eye splash occurs)
Storage of Heavy Metals Test - Copper Kit Regular
The Copper Test kit should be stored in a cool place - 15C to 25C.
Preparation of Test Solutions
i) Remove the small vial, the pipette and indicator stick from the large test tube.
ii) Cut the pH paper into several smaller pieces
iii) In the empty large test-tube, add 5 ml. of the solution to be tested.
iv) Using the pipette, add 3 drops of reagent 1 in vial with the clear cap to the solution to be tested in the large test-tube.
v) Check the pH of the solution in the large test tube with a piece of the pH paper. If the solution is alkalline, add another 2 drops of reagent 1 as in step (iv)
vi) Check the pH of the solution as in step (v) and repeat same procedure if colour of pH paper is not pink or red (ie., not acidic)
Conducting the test
a) Put the indicator stick into the acidic solution in the large test tube for 1 minute. The indicator area of the indicator stick must be completely covered by the solution
b) Remove the indicator stick and wait for 30 seconds
c) Compare the colour of the indicator stick to the colour strip provided

Warning
Please keep the Copper Test kit in a safe place out of reach of children.
After the test has been completed, the tested solution should be disposed of
safely. The best disposal method is to flush the solution in the toilet.
There should not be any contact of the contents of the Copper Test kit with food.
